A Too-Quick Trip to America

Within about a week's notice, we managed to book tickets and fly out to visit my parents and sister in the states. My family just moved to Washington state from the Bay Area and they bought a beautiful log home that I couldn't wait another minute to see in person. We had only a few days before Damir started training again so we just went for it. As it turns out, nine days is way too short when you haven't seen your family in 7 months and you're used to living next door to them. Not to mention the fact that we have some truly great friends who live near my parents. Needless to say, the homesickness is weighing heavily on me right now. We had the best time though and we even managed to squeeze in a trip to Salt Lake City to visit my sister for a few days!

You guys. My parents' new house is so lovely it almost hurts (that's a jacuzzi up there on that balcony and yes I enjoyed it thoroughly). Bainbridge Island is my version of paradise. Seeing friends filled my heart with so much joy that I thought it might burst. And pretty much the whole time I was there, I tried to stretch each and every day out as much as I could because I knew it was going to be so hard for me to leave again.

Thankfully, there were two furry critters that I had left behind (along with a huge chunk of my heart - it was so hard to leave them). I came back to a very happy dog who had just fallen head over heels in love with my father-in-law, and the sweetest, smartest, toughest little kitten who seems to be getting better each and every day. My garden is a disaster, which stresses me out a little bit to be honest, but I'll get to that later. For now, I just want to nurse these terrible cramps I'm having, cuddle my creatures and my man, and readjust, once again, to being so far away from my family.
